D.O.E Boy an upcoming rapper from Chicago...has got Myspace.com going nuts and his peers. I got a chance to chat with the rapper before he's head straight to the top!!!!!!
Tempestt: First off the name D.O.E Boy, what does it stand for?
D.O.E Boy: The name D.O.E Boy stands for Doe over Everything. Where I come from "Money Is Power"
Tempestt: How did you get started in the rap game?
D.O.E Boy: I got started in the rap game by constantly being around music. I grew up around music. As I got older, I felt music was one of the best ways to communicate with a lot of different people. It's universal
Tempestt: Who are some of your influences?
D.O.E Boy: Weezy F. Baby (Please Say the Baby), Jay-Z, T.I.
Tempestt: What makes you different from any rapper on the market?
D.O.E Boy: feel I can touch on situation; rap any style, over any beat. I don’t know everything, I learn from everything. I take from real life experiences, from myself and others. So when people hear my music they can relate to it or know someone who can.
Tempestt: Rap is a huge market, which bring in billions of dollars, are you just an entertainer or do you have any other projects? (Such as are you a Ceo of your own record company)
D.O.E Boy: Yes, I am currently the C.E.O of my own record company, (F.L.Y ENT.) I am getting into real estate, and taking a few business classes. I also plan develop my own modeling company, and clothing line.
Tempestt: What is your motivation? Why does the world need to know D.O.E Boy?
D.O.E Boy: My motivation is the love and support I get from the fans. They keep me going, just to see somebody understand my craft and relate to gives me fuel for the fire. The world needs to know about D.O.E Boy because I have a different mind frame from a lot of people. I think different, I see different, my music is a reflection on my mind frame
Tempestt: Now rap gets a lot of flack for degrading women and it violence in lyrics, what is your response to people who say; rap is not a form of music and should not be appreciated?
D.O.E Boy: How can people not appreciate life, there is violence, but there is love, there are women out here who don’t respect themselves and others who get treated like queens. I have no response for people who can't appreciate the fist amendment right.
Tempestt: Are you currently in school? If so why is it important to further your education....even though you’re a rapper?
D.O.E Boy: Yes I’m currently in school. I feel it's important to further your education because you can never learn too much. The more you learn, the more you grow, as an artist I have to be versatile.
Tempestt: Besides rapping what are your hobbies?
D.O.E Boy: Girls, generating money
Tempestt: To all the interested women or are you single?
D.O.E Boy: It's complicated
Tempestt: Side track for a moment....What do you think about President Bush? You have this video of Bush putting his middle finger up on your Myspace page…So I had to ask you opinion of the President…
D.O.E Boy: Honestly fuck President Bush, I put that up so people can understand that he is normal, he acts like any other person who’s doesn’t care about real life situations (i.e. Hurricane Katrina) how does he think the people of new Orleans can make due with f.e.m.a checks while they're raising the property value in many of the black communities
Tempestt: When can your fans expect a release or some radio play?
D.O.E Boy: Aug.1, 2006 my mix tape will be in store, and I’m looking to get some radio play real soon. With the help of the new princess of radio....
Tempestt: (Laughing) Okay…Next Question; Now your record company and it’s members have saying that are picking up in Chicago such as...FLY...MY DUDE & ect; what exactly does these saying means and whose behind them?
D.O.E Boy: We're innovative a lot of slang comes from us. My definition of being F.L.Y has much more meaning to it then people think." No one can predict to what heights you can soar; even you will never know until you spread your wings." So being F.L.Y means taking on whatever, without listening to other people or doubting yourself. My dude is just a way of greeting someone you're close to, you know we don’t say we have "friends" I look at my people as well, my people MY DUDES!
Tempestt: I must say I enjoyed your music on Myspace (www.myspace.com/flyentdoeboy) what’s next for D.O.E Boy?
D.O.E Boy: Well after the mix tape is released I, have a few shows set up, a couple magazines features to do and I’m just going to be out promoting everywhere I can think of.
