The Da Vinci Code

The Da Vinci Code review- I can tell you one thing, casting Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon was the first mistake Ron Howard made.   I think Harrison Ford would have better cast in the lead role.  I kept watching the movie looking for the sparks between Hanks and his co-star Audrey Tatou and came up empty.   I think the probelm with reading a novel and then watching the movie will most likely end in disappointment as it did for me in this one.  Yes, the monk character was creepy and disturbing especially when he was tightening the chalice around his leg and beating himself with a whip and there were a couple of cool car chases between Hanks & Tatou and the police.  But it never seemed to hit the excitement that the book gave to me.  These characters are supposed ot be on the hunt for the Holy Grail and their hunt is done in two tries.  I think this movie was not the greatest and I 'd tell people if they haven't seen the movie and they haven't read the book, stick with the book because it's defintely the better of the two.

I am the South Side G'ma. If you live in Billings, Montana you understand. Like every other reasonably-sized city, an address in a certain part of town comes with the baggage of not measuring up to say, a Northsider. I love my neighborhood, faults and all. In fact, I moved here because it is the most active and progressive area of Billings. Several years later my little grandson came to live with me. In hindsight I would have to say that if I could have afforded a house in another neighborhood I may have chosen differently for Casey's sake. But he has lots of kids to play with (and lots of kids he isn't allowed to play with) and he doesn't attend school down here so other than growing up with the stigma of growing up here, he has a pretty good life. I write about my life, my neighbors, my neighborhood, work, life as a community activist and participant in Billings.
